Green Ranger | Skydiving AFF #3

Well, its been a crazy good year thus far I know It has been a while since I posted. After returning from Cuba, I headed to Flordia for my NAUI Cave 1 training. I spent the week learning how to dive caves and seeing some of the most beautiful underground formations. Unfortunately, because it was a very intense course and I got sick the week I had planned for fun dives, I didn’t capture much footage. The Canadian Spring/Summer took its time getting here which really didn’t help motivate me to get out and create more content.

None the less, I’m back with a new adventure. At the end of May, I started my Solo Skydiving course. Below is my third Advanced Freefall (AFF) skydive. The course starts off with 3 Tandem jumps followed by ground school and 7 supervised solo jumps.

In this jump I demonstrated the following:

  • 1 Practice Toggle Pull (Practice deploy of the parachute)
  • 90° Left Turn
  • 360° Left Turn
  • 360° Right Turn
  • Track forward (Instructor dock)
  • Wave off, Pull main chute (ARAT)

Below are my second and first AFF jumps.

I completed my fourth jump as well. Sadly there was an SD Card error so I didn’t get the footage. It was a fun dive doing barrel rolls! Too bad, but I’ll have more opportunities!

So far I am loving skydiving. It is slowly becoming more and more fun for me. At first, I was so scared but each jump you gain more confidence and start to learn more and more skills that make you comfortable in the air. Even on my third solo jump, there was a moment after completing my skills I looked at my altimeter and it felt as though time had slowed down. Every skill I had to perform felt effortless and made it feel as though time was slowing down. It is hard to explain. Not to sound too cheesy or cliche but it was like tapping into the matrix. Re-watching the footage is interesting because you see it all happening as real time and the video cannot replicate the effect of time slowing down if not for just a moment. It’s a rare moment and one I hope to encounter again.

Stay tuned for future skydiving and scuba videos. I’ll be completing more jumps shortly and will be heading back up to Tobermory for some Shipwreck Diving in July!
